In response to the growing deforestation in Xonacatlán, a reforestation campaign was launched, bringing together volunteers and local community members. During the campaign, hundreds of native trees were planted, environmental education workshops were held, and sustainable practices were promoted to counter the effects of urbanization. We are in Xonacatlán, working as part of a passionate reforestation volunteer team. Surrounded by nature and a community eager to restore the environment, we feel proud and motivated to contribute.

We arrived in Xonacatlán last Monday, ready to help reforest areas affected by urban expansion.

The weather has been mostly cool, with sunny mornings and cloudy afternoons, perfect for working outdoors.

3. Places We’ve Already Visited

• San Antonio, one of the most impacted areas.
• Chiconautla Hill, where we started tree planting.
• The local community, where we met with residents to plan activities.

4. Three Volunteer Activities We’ve Done

• Planted over 500 native trees.
• Held workshops on reforestation and water conservation.
• Cleaned nearby green areas to prepare for planting.

5. Three Things We Haven’t Done Yet

• Set up a sustainable irrigation system.

We arrived in Xonacatlán a few days ago, greeted by sunny weather and a refreshing breeze. We’ve already visited the Xonacatlán Forest, the community garden, and the riverbank. So far, we have planted over 100 native trees, organized a community clean-up, and conducted educational workshops at local schools. However, we haven’t yet created a nature trail, installed birdhouses, or conducted a wildlife survey.

In the coming days, we plan to launch a larger reforestation project, aiming to plant an additional 200 trees with community support. Additionally, we’ll host a workshop on sustainable farming practices to help local farmers reduce their environmental impact.

 We are excited about our progress and the activities ahead, working together to combat deforestation in Xonacatlán and inspire others to join our cause!
